Sims 4 Legacy Challenge – Preparing for Gen 3

The Mirage family carried on steadily after Gordon’s passing, though all 3 of them spent some time mourning at Gordon’s ashes. Cold-hearted bitch that I am, I gave them a week and then distributed him into the great hereafter. His legacy lives on, mostly in the form of the vegetable garden and a number of not-too-awful paintings all over the house (along with every single kiddie drawing ever made by the 3 boys; shame you can’t put some on the fridge).

In the intervening few play sessions…

Holdem meets a lovely girl named Elise Duncan in the park and they become high-school sweethearts, although it seems that Holdem is a typical teenager and finds food a lot more alluring than girls.

Park with EliseThe twins become teenagers. Slapjack acquires the ‘Neat’ trait (which is remarkably on the money because he’s always cleaning up after everyone) and the ‘Renaissance Sim’ aspiration, both of which suit him really well. I’m not sure whether I’m moulding them to fit the random trait generation (which you can find here), or whether they’ve just been really fitting random rolls. Probably the former, since I’m not a big believer in astrology. For his part, Ratscrew gets the ‘Active’ trait and the ‘Soulmate’ aspiration; one is directly inherited from Gordon and the other is very similar, if not as promiscuous.

Twins are teens

The boys are not as perpetually happy as Parcheesi and Gordon were, and I discover that’s because none of the 3 have the ‘Good’ trait (spoiler: yet!!); those who have it acquire the happy mood from being around others in positive moods, and both ‘Cheesi and Gordon had it. It may also be because I’m flogging them to death at school.

Holdem grows up a little more, enough to forget burgers and make a vow of eternal amore with Elise…

True Wuv

…and the next bloody day HE ages up and SHE doesn’t. No more smoochies, because suddenly Elise is jailbait and Holdem is a dirty old man. It takes eleven interminable days (as  far as Holdem is concerned) before Elise is old enough for their next date — though in the meantime he becomes a Secret Agent and does pretty well, the boys get straight As in school, and Parcheesi continues to give nightly concerts while pondering retirement.

I’m actually really glad my saves got corrupted (or whatever the hell happened) and that I decided to ‘cheat’ a bit and have her take a youth potion the second time around. This way, Parcheesi has had a chance to see her children grow up and…

Get married. The second Elise aged up Holdem swept her off to the club, fed her drinks, kissed her soundly and proposed. She accepted, because even while they couldn’t date, she apparently pined for him as much as he did for her — but she also insisted on a proper wedding, unlike his parents had had. So a proper wedding they got.

Wedding archHoldem and Elise weddingHaving thus fulfilled the proprieties, the bride and groom snuck off for a discreet bit of woohoo.

One thing on her mind

The very next day (because apparently one can never have too many parties), the twins had to be aged up before the game did it for me, so they organised a party at the neighbours’ house. Actually, single neighbour by now, since the parents my Gen 1 Sims met apparently passed away while I wasn’t looking. That probably explains why the young lady kept showing up at our place hoping to hang out.

Boys 2 menBoth boys were still a bit knackered and hung over from the wedding the night before, but everyone got through it and made it home in one piece, leaving the neighbour to clean up the mess. Win! Slapjack’s adult trait is ‘Perfectionist’ (seriously – is that a stick up his backside?), whereas Ratscrew got ‘Good’, thereby inheriting 2 of his father’s traits along with a very similar aspiration. Turns out Ratscrew is gay, too. (And there’s a long story I won’t tell involving him meeting his soulmate – Antonio or Armando or something – and going on an incredibly hot and steamy date… only to have the game crash to BEFORE that ever happened with no rescue save. I’m broken-hearted for him, and it looks like Ratscrew is going to have to default back to Dominik something-or-other, who is nice enough but a bit sallow and also batshit crazy.)

And now everyone is an adult (or Elder, in ‘Cheesi’s case) and has a job, though probably not for long in Slapjack’s case since his Renaissance Sim aspiration requires him to get to a certain point in several different jobs. Right now he’s a comedian, but he’s planning to switch to painter fairly soon. Elise is a comedian and will stay that way, because she aspires to become a Joke Star. And speaking of aspirations, Holdem will likely never realise his because it requires one to have had 5 BFFs and there’s no way he’s dumping Elise as his BFF, too bad so sad. Oh, and Ratscrew is an astronaut like he always wanted to be (no rocket ship yet), Parcheesi is finally retired, and Elise wants nothing more than to get pregnant… but since money is still a little tight and expanding the house to fit 5 adults and X children is likely to be pretty expensive (especially since Ratscrew wants to build his own wing and if Rats gets one, Slaps has to have one too), that will have to wait a bit.

For those who have read this far and are also doing a legacy challenge, note that the Spouse rules have changed a bit — for the better in my opinion, apart from the lack of a dowry. It will allow me to bring in spouses for the twins if I want to, because I’m not ready to move either of them out of the house yet. I’m having too much fun with them all, which is saying something for someone who dreaded controlling more than a single Sim in a household a few weeks ago.

As a final note, these updates may get a lot less frequent. I can’t imagine too many people are interested in all the gory details of my playtime, so I’ll probably stick to the broad strokes.
